Bruins Receive Pac-10 All-Academic Honors

WALNUT CREEK, CA - Following are the 2003 Pacific-10 Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country All-Academic teams, announced today by Commissioner Tom Hansen. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.

In women's cross country, sophomore Allison Hall and junior Carmen Winant were named first team All-Academic. Hall is undeclared with a 3.80 gpa. Winant, an art major, has a 3.81 gpa. Senior Melissa McBain and sophomore Jenna Timinsky were named second team All-Academic. McBain is a pre-psychology major with a 3.36 gpa. Timinsky is undeclared with a 3.74 gpa. At the NCAA Championships, where the Bruins placed seventh in the team competition, Hall was 190th (21:56.6), Winant was 121st (21:21.9), McBain placed 50th (20:53.6) and Timinsky finished 140th (21:30.4).

The following Bruins received honorable mention: Ashley Allen, Leslie Barrie, Maribeth Buche, Ashley Caldwell, Emily Haigh, Carolyn Shea and Sarah West.
