OSU Loses Heartbreaker In Double OT

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Eugene Jeter had 11 of his 25 points after regulationas the Portland held off Oregon State 97-89 in double-overtime Tuesday.

David Lucas had a career-high 22 points on 10-of-16 shooting to lead theBeavers (1-1). Chris Stephens tied a career-high with 17.

Donald Wilson had 23 points and seven rebounds for the Pilots (1-1), whobeat Oregon State on the road for the first time since the 1960-61 season.

The two teams combined to put up 45 3-point attempts. Portland hit 12-of-24and Oregon State was 7-of-21.

Jeter and Adam Quick hit back-to-back 3-pointers to start a 13-5 run in thesecond overtime.

Jeter was 5-of-7 shooting 3-pointers for Portland, which led by as many as12 points.

The Beavers trailed nearly the entire game, until Stephens hit a runningjumper with 5.4 seconds left in regulation to tie it at 69-69.

Oregon State led 82-80 with 18 seconds left in the first overtime, but Jetercut through the lane and scored to tie the game. Time expired on Stephens as hedrove to the hoop for the Beavers.

Oregon State made several runs at the Pilots in regulation, but couldn'tregain the lead until 75-73 in the first overtime.

Portland led 26-13 at 8:45 in the first half. The Pilots made 10 of theirfirst 16 shots, including 6-of-7 on 3-pointers. But Portland hit just 3-of-10shots from there, and Oregon State went on an 18-10 run and cut the lead to36-31 at halftime.

Stephens hit a 3-pointer to get Oregon State within 46-45 at 14:39 in thesecond half, but Donald Wilson put together consecutive three-point plays andAdam Quick made a long 3 to make it 55-45.

The Beavers outrebounded Portland 43-35.

Dustin Geddis had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Pilots.
