Pac-10 Picks Five Women's Soccer Players For Academic All-Conference

Cara Miller's second-team selection headed a list of five Oregon State women's soccer players earning Academic All-Pacific-10 Conference recognition on Monday.

Lindsey Beem, Shelby Crabtree, Melena Ertler and Janelle Joy earned honorable mention.

Miller (so, defense) boasts a 3.96 grade point average as an Apparel Design major and started all 20 games this year.

Beem (jr., midfield) is OSU's only repeat honoree, earning honorable mention for the second straight year with a 3.22 GPA as a Human Development and Family Studies major.

Beem ranks fifth at OSU in career assists with 15, and is tied for 10th in career scoring at 37 points. Beem was one of three team captains this year.

Crabtree (so., midfield) boasts a 3.67 GPA as a Visual Arts major and played in 13 games, starting two and recording one assist

A team co-captain, Ertler (jr., defense), a Psychology major, owns a 3.09 GPA and has started 58 of 59 career games in OSU's back line, including all 20 this year.

A History major, Janelle Joy (jr., forward) has a 3.51 GPA. She broke into a starting role in OSU's front line in 2003 and tallied nine points (4 goals, 1 assist) to tie for third on the team.

To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must be in their second year at the school, be a starter or significant substitute, and carry at least a 3.0 GPA.
