Sun Devils Upset By Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Nebraska blew a 14-point lead early in the second halfbut Corey Simms scored eight points to rally the Cornhuskers to a 66-60 winWednesday over Arizona State.

Nebraska (3-0) went up 39-25 on a 3-pointer from Andrew Drevo on the firstpossession of the second half.

Then Arizona State (3-1) used five 3-pointers in a 21-6 run that gave theSun Devils a 46-45 lead with 10:01 remaining.

But Nebraska's Wes Wilkinson drained a baseline 3-pointer to put the Huskersback on top and start a 16-7 run.

Simms hit four of six free throws in that spurt - and made a pair ofbaskets, including a leaning jumper - to make the score 61-53 with 1:05 left.

The Huskers won the game with defense and offensive rebounding.

Nebraska forced 16 Arizona State turnovers and turned them into 25 points.Nebraska had 16 offensive rebounds that resulted in 21 points. Arizona Statehad only eight points off turnovers and seven points off offensive rebounds.

Nebraska built its lead with a 21-5 run over the last nine minutes of thesecond half during which Nate Johnson scored seven of 10 points.

Simms and Drevo led Nebraska with 13 points each and Jake Muhleisen added11.

Arizona State was led by Steve Moore who had 22 points, hitting 5 of 103-pointers to lead the Sun Devils comeback.

Nebraska held Ike Diogu to 13 points, half of his average. Jamal Hill added10 for the Sun Devils.
