Huskies Dominate At The Wildcat Invitational

ELLENSBURG, Wash - The Washington Swimming team had a strong showing Friday at the Wildcat Invitational held at Central Washington. Both the Husky men and women boasted multiple winners in the first day of the three-day event.
The Husky men were led by senior John Lyssand as he placed first in the 500 freestyle with his best time of the season (4:35.41). The 400 medley relay team also recorded a first place finish as junior Diogo Bezerra, senior Chris Monson, freshman Jared Osborne, and sophomore Justin Lee clocked a time of 3:26.90.
The Husky women had a strong showing on Friday and were led by freshman Brittany Epperson as she clocked the best time of the year for the UW (23.68) and finished first in the 50 freestyle. Junior Erin Kloos recorded a first place finish and her best time of the year in the 200 IM. The 200 freestyle relay team consisting of Epperson, Lisa Fanning, Blythe Murray, and Melody Staubitz recorded a win with a time of 1:36.62. The 400 medley relay team also placed first as Nichole Real, Kloos, Murray, and Fanning finished in 3:57.25.
The Washington swimming teams will continue action at the Wildcat Invitational Saturday and Sunday in Ellensburg.
