Three Football Players Named To <i>Sporting News</i> Pac-10 All-Freshman Team

TEMPE, Ariz. - Three Arizona State football players were named to the annual Sporting News Pac-10 All-Freshman team it was announced Friday. Left tackle Andrew Carnahan (Hereford, Texas), tailback Loren Wade (Gardena, Calif.) and defensive end Kyle Caldwell (Scottsdale, Ariz.) all earned recognition for their outstanding initial seasons as Sun Devils.

Carnahan, who was recently named a Freshman All-American, became a key member of the Sun Devils' offensive line in 2003 and started every game of the season at left tackle. Carnahan and his fellow offensive lineman rank third in the Pac-10 in sacks allowed (24) and anchored an offense that has scored on 24 of its last 27 trips into the red zone.

Wade finished the season as ASU's leading rusher with 773 yards on 136 carries, good for an average of 5.7 yards per carry. He had five rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. Wade played in 11 games, starting five.

Caldwell played in 11 games for the Sun Devils during his true freshman season, notching 18 tackles, three for loss, including two sacks for eight yards.
