AVCA Announces 2003 All-Region Teams for NCAA Division I

Dec. 10, 2003

Colorado Springs, Colo. - The AVCA released its list of 2003 All-Region Teams for NCAA Division I this morning and three Stanford women's volleyball players were honored. Senior middle blocker Jennifer Harvey (Denver, CO) and junior outside hitter Ogonna Nnamani (Normal, IL) were selected to the Pacific All-Region team while freshman outside hitter Kristin Richards (Orem, UT) was tabbed the Pacific Region Freshman of the Year.

Nnamani, a three-time all-region selection and two-time All-America honoree, leads the Cardinal in kills and points per game this season. Her 607 kills in 2003 ranks second all-time for a single season on The Farm. She needs just 14 more to tie former two-time AVCA National Player of the Year Logan Tom for the top spot with 621.

This is Harvey's first all-region honor as the 6-5 middle blocker was honored as a first-team All-Pac-10 selection earlier this month. Harvey leads the squad and the league in blocks per game with 1.55 and her 178 total blocks this season ranks fifth in the record books for a single season. She is also closing in on the top five in career blocks on The Farm as well.

Richards was recently named a first-team All-Pac-10 selection and the Pacific-10 Freshman of the Year. Richards leads the team in digs, averaging 3.03 per game and is second in kills (3.34kpg).
