Natalie Coughlin named Swimmer of the Week

BERKELEY, Calif. - Natalie Coughlin was named the co-Swimmer of the Week by for her outstanding performance in leading No. 9 Cal to the title of the Princeton Invitational on Sunday, Dec. 7, in Princeton, N.J.

The Golden Bears senior, who shares this week's honor with Auburn's Adrienne Binder, won three individual events - the 200 IM (1:55.46), 100 backstroke (51.36) and 200 backstroke (1:51.42). Additionally, she led off the winning 200 and 400 freestyle relays with splits of 22.37 and 47.37, respectively. She also had butterfly splits of 23.48 and 52.32 on the winning 200 and 400 medley relays, respectively, and posted a 200 freestyle split of 1:43.83 on the winning 800 freestyle relay. Her 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, and 200 IM times are the fastest in the country this season, while her 50 freestyle is the second fastest.
