Pryce Named Honda Award Finalist
Dec. 12, 2003
LOS ANGELES - UCLA defender Nandi Pryce was recently named one of four finalists for the prestigious Honda Award, given to the top female collegiate soccer player in the country. Pryce joins Penn State's Joanna Lohman, and North Carolina's Catherine Reddick and Lindsay Tarpley.
Pryce, a senior from Casselberry, Fla., started 24 of 25 matches in 2003, helping UCLA reach the NCAA College Cup Semifinals in Cary, NC. The Co-Pac-10 Player of the Year this season, Pryce led the Pac-10 Champion Bruins to a 20-2-3 overall record in 2003, helping the UCLA defense tie the single-season school record for shutouts with 15.
Pryce was also named a semifinalist for the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy, also given to the top player in the country, and was a member of the College Cup All-Tournament Team.
The winner will be named on Dec. 22. That player will be eligible for the Honda-Broderick Cup, awarded annually to the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year.
