Rogers, Williams, Udeze Named AP All-American First Teamers

Dec. 16, 2003

Offensive tackle Jacob Rogers, wide receiver Mike Williams and defensive tackle Kenechi Udeze were named to the AP All-American first team.

Cornerback Will Poole and punter Tom Malone made the second team, while defensive tackle Shaun Cody was a third teamer.

With this selection, Rogers, Williams and Udeze become consensus All-Americans (USC now has had 44 consensus All-Americans in its history).

Quarterback Matt Leinart and Williams finished sixth and eighth, respectively, in the Heisman Trophy voting, just the second time that a pair of Trojans placed in the Heisman Top 10 (in 1979, Charles White won the award and quarterback Paul McDonald was sixth).

Head coach Pete Carroll was named the winner of the Maxwell Club College Coach of the Year Award. This adds to his other honors: Home Depot National Coach of the Year, National Coach of the Year, Pigskin Club of Washington D.C. Coach of the Year, Paul 'Bear' Bryant Coach of the Year finalist, Eddie Robinson/Football Writers Association of America Coach of the Year semifinalist, American Football Coaches Association Division I-A Region 5 Coach of the Year and Pac-10 Co-Coach of the Year.
