USC Volleyball Lands Four On AVCA All-America Teams

DALLAS, Texas - USC women's volleyball standouts April Ross, Emily Adams and Bibiana Candelas have been named to the All-America first team, while teammate Keao Burdine garnered second team honors, announced the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Wednesday, Dec. 17.

The official awards will be presented on Friday, Dec. 19, at the AVCA/All-America/Player of the Year Banquet at the Dallas Wyndham Anatole Hotel. The National Player of the Year award winner will be announced at the banquet.

This is the first time the Women of Troy have had four total players honored and the first time there have been three first-team selections from USC since the AVCA began honoring All-America players in 1980.

This is the second-straight first team honor for both Ross and Adams, and the third AVCA accolade for Ross who was named to the second team as a freshman. This is the first honor Burdine and Candelas.

The Women of Troy, the defending NCAA Champions, will face Minnesota in the NCAA Semifinals on Thursday, Dec. 18, at 6:30 p.m. CST in Dallas. The winners of each semifinal match advances to the NCAA Championship to be played Saturday, Dec. 20, at 2:30 p.m. CST.

The All-America selections are made by the AVCA Division I All-America Committee: chair - Janice Kruger, Maryland; Pi'i Aiu, Colorado; John Dunning, Stanford; Burt Fuller, Utah State; Judy Green, Alabama; Jill Hirschinger, New Hampshire; Nancy Mueller, South Florida; Pete Waite, Wisconsin.
