Trojans Earn No. 16 Ranking In 2004 Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll

LOS ANGELES -- The USC baseball team is ranked No. 16 in the 2004 Collegiate Baseball preseason poll released today. The Trojans return five position players from last year's squad that finished the season with a 28-28 record.

Collegiate Baseball also announced its preseason All-American teams with USC sophomore catcher Jeff Clement named as a second team All-American. Clement earned first team preseason honors earlier by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

USC will begin its exhibition season with a five-day trip to Havana, Cuba, from Jan. 23-28. The Alumni Game will take place at Dedeaux Field on Saturday (Feb. 7) at 1 p.m. with the regular season opener on Friday (Feb. 13) at Blair Field against Long Beach State at 6:30 p.m.
