Moore Transfers to Cougars
Dec. 22, 2003
PULLMAN, Wash. - Keisha Moore, a 6-foot-2 center from J.W. North High School (Riverside, Calif.), has elected to transfer to the Washington State women's basketball program from the University of Idaho, WSU Head Coach Sherri Murrell announced Monday.
Because of NCAA Division I transfer rules; Moore is not eligible to play for the Cougars until the day after the conclusion of the 2004 fall semester, which is Saturday, Dec. 18. She is allowed to practice with the team however.
'I'm thrilled to have such a talented player join our team,' Murrell said of Moore's arrival to the Cougars. 'Keisha will fit into our program real well. She is a great kid and is ready to work hard and learn during her redshirt year. She will instantly help us.'
Moore is not the only player to join the Cougars as Crystal Blue - a 5-foot-10 guard from Seattle Wash., who signed with the team last spring - has been declared academically eligible and can practice with the team as well. Blue will be eligible to compete in the 2004-05 season.
In her two years at Idaho, Moore played in 56 games, starting 49 and averaged 12.4 points and 7.4 rebounds a game. She recorded a career-high 25 points twice, the latest being against UC Irvine, March 12 of this year. In addition, Moore grabbed a career-best 18 rebounds against Cal Poly, Jan. 5, 2002.
Moore earned an All-Big West Conference Honorable Mention selection last year after averaging 12.2 points and 8.2 rebounds a game. She played in all 28 games for the Vandals, starting 25.
Blue transferred to WSU from Odessa College in Odessa, Texas. During the 2002-03 season at Odessa, Blue averaged 13.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists. She shot 45 percent from the field including 37 percent from three-point territory. Blue's play earned her a first team All-Western Junior Athletic Conference selection, which followed up her honorable mention honor after her freshman campaign.
