Tyler Ebell To Transfer

Jan. 9, 2004

UCLA sophomore tailback Tyler Ebell has asked for and been granted his release by Bruin head coach Karl Dorrell and will transfer. Ebell met with Dorrell today to request his release.

'We certainly wish Tyler the best of luck in the future,' said Dorrell. 'We hope that he will find a school that he feels meets his needs.'

This season, Ebell started eight games and rushed for 501 yards on 116 carries (4.3 average) with two touchdowns. He also made 10 receptions for 68 yards. He ran for 1,495 yards in his two-year career.

Ebell's transfer leaves the Bruins with four tailbacks for the 2004 season - sophomore Maurice Drew, the team's leading rusher in 2003 with 582 yards; senior Manuel White, Jr., who rushed for 379 yards before an injury to his shoulder in the year's eighth game ended his season; junior Jason Harrison, who missed virtually all of the 2003 season while recovering from knee surgery; and redshirt freshman Derrick Williams.
