Cardinal Compete at Pac-10 Indoor Championships

SEATTLE, Wash. - Stanford's Lauren Barnikow, seeded No. 4 in Flight I, Kara Guzman and Jessica Leck fell in first-round action at the 2004 Pacific-10 Conference Indoor Championships at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Complex at the University of Washington on Friday.

In Flight I singles action, Barnikow fell in three sets to Washington's Claire Carter 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. In Flight III, Guzman was forced to retire after two sets and give the win to top-seeded Laura Gordon of UCLA (6-0, 2-4 ret.). Leck was downed by Arizona State's Ebru Burduroglu 6-2, 6-2.

The three Cardinal continue in cosolation action on Saturday.
