Trojans Come Up Short Against ASU

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Ike Diogu had 27 points as Arizona State overcame a14-point first-half deficit to beat USC 100-85 Saturday night.

Arizona State outscored USC 79-50 in the final 26 minutes of the game to enda streak of seven consecutive losses against the Trojans in Los Angeles.

Diogu, who scored 19 points in the first half, made six of nine field goaltries, including all three of his 3-point shots, and was a perfect 12-for-12from the foul line.

He has scored 10 or more points in all 46 games of his college career andhis streak of double-digit games is the longest of any player in the nation.

Jamal Hill came off the bench for the Sun Devils to score 20 points. StevieMoore scored 17 points, and Jason Braxton had 12 points and a career-high 12assists.

Arizona State (7-7, 1-4 Pacific-10 Conference) was 30-for-38 from the foulline, and 10-for-14 from behind the 3-point line.

Desmon Farmer led USC with 26 points, but 18 came in the first half, as didall four of his successful 3-point attempts.

Arizona State shot 61 percent from the floor (30-for-49) and made 15 of 22shots in the second half (68 percent).

USC (8-7, 3-3) made 47 percent of its shots (15-for-32), in the first half,but shot just 31 percent (11-for-35) in the second.

The Sun Devils' 100 points was their highest total of the season.
