Amy LePeilbet Named First-Team All-American By

TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State soccer player Amy LePeilbet (Crystal Lake, Illinois) has been named as one of only three defenders to the 2003 All-American first team, announced by Gary Davidson, managing editor of The Women's All-American Team is voted on by a panel of 17 of the top coaches from across the country. This is LePeilbet's second All-American honors this year as she earned second-team All-American honors by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

LePeilbet, one of the two most decorated soccer players in Arizona State history, is currently in China (along with Stacey Tullock) as a member of April Heinrichs' 22-player U.S. National team as they prepare for the annual Four Nations Tournament.

LePeilbet was also a main component in helping to carry the Sun Devils into the second round of the 2003 NCAA Championships, the team's second consecutive and third NCAA appearance in the last four years.

LePeilbet, the team's top defender, played a major role in ASU's nationally ranked program. A former U.S. U-21 National Team player and a three-time All-Pacific-10 Conference first team selection, LePeilbet did not miss a start in her four-years at ASU, playing in 74 career games.

A two-time Academic All-American as well, majoring in education with a 3.81 G.P.A., she helped the team finish with a 13-5-3 record and a final national ranking of 14th in the nation. As team's top defender, LePeilbet also scored three goals, including two game-winners while leading a defense that allowed 1.05 goals per game and posted eight shutouts.
