Kim Jagd Named Head Coach of USA Volleyball Girl's High Performance Camp
COLORADO SPRINGS - UCLA women's volleyball assistant coach Kim Jagd has been selected to the 2004 coaching staff of USA Volleyball's High Performance Program. She will serve as the head coach of the Girl's High Performance Camp.
Shelton Collier will oversee the Women's Junior National Team, while Rich Zeciski will be in charge of the Girls' Youth National Team.
The head coach of the Men's Junior National Team will be John Speraw and John Kosty will lead the Boys' High Performance Camp. The head coach of the the Boys' Youth National Team will be announced at a later date.
'I'm excited not only by the talent level of the coaching staffs but also because it is an experienced group with regards to the USA Volleyball pipeline and system,' said Tom Pingel, the Director of High Performance National Programs. 'That experience should make for a seamless transition from last year's success.'
All four national teams will be competing in the NORCECA Zone Championships later this summer for the right to advance to next year's youth and junior world championships.
'The first year of a new two-year cycle is critical for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is getting out teams qualified for the 2005 youth and junior world championships,' Pingel added.
'I am really pleased to see Kim receive this appointment,' said UCLA head women's volleyball coach Andy Banachowski. 'She has been working very hard to be involved with USA volleyball, and this a tribute to her organizational skills and teaching ability to become the head coach of this youth program. She will do a great job.'
Jagd, who recently concluded her 11th season as the women's assistant coach at UCLA, was in charge of the USA Volleyball Girls' High Performance A2 Camp in Colorado Springs and an assistant coach for the Girls' High Performance Camp in St. George, Utah, last summer.
