Men's Golf Eighth After First Day Of Waikoloa Invitational

Hilo, Hawaii - The No. 19 USC men's golf team shot a 2-under 286 on Wednesday and are in eighth place after the first day of the Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate held at Waikoloa Kings Golf Club.

USC is 14 strokes behind team leader Georgia Tech (272). UCLA is second (282), with Washington State and Arizona State tied for third (283).

Junior Ben Hayes leads the Trojans after shooting a 2-under 70 in round one. He is tied for 11th, six strokes back of individual leader Nicholas Thompson of Georgia Tech (64). Brock Mackenzie of Washington and John Poucher of UCLA are tied for second (68).

Also for Troy, junior Nico Bollini and senior Scott Oxandaboure are tied for 24th (71), sophomore Taylor Wood is tied for 52nd (74), and freshman Josh Wooding is tied for 64th (75).

The tournament concludes on Thursday.
