March 3, 2004
BERKELEY, CA - Senior shortstop Jeff Dragicevich had the game-winning RBI and junior reliever Jesse Ingram earned his third save of the season as the California baseball team snapped a six-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over Sacramento State Wednesday afternoon at Evans Diamond. The Golden Bears improved to 8-10 on the year, and the Hornets fell to 10-9.
Down 3-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, freshman left fielder Brennan Boesch walked with one out. Junior second baseman David Nicholson followed with a single to center off of Sacramento State reliever Billy Sinacori (0-2, 2.0 innings, three hits, two runs, two walks, two strikeouts). Boesch was able to score on Nicholson's single when Hornet shortstop Bret LeVier threw wildly when Boesch attempted to advance to third. Dragicevich then knocked in what ended up being the winning run with a hard-hit ball to right center field, scoring Nicholson.
Ingram earned his third save of the season, and the 12th save of his career, when he entered in the eighth inning. He pitched 2.0 innings with one hit, no runs, one walk and four strikeouts. Ingram's 12th career save places him seventh on the Cal all-time career save list.
