Hoffman Earns Third Straight First Team Honor

March 5, 2004

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- USC women's basketball senior Ebony Hoffman earned her third straight All-Pac-10 first team selection, Pac-10 commissioner Tom Hansen announced. The 2004 all-conference honorees were presented at the State Farm Pac-10 Women's Basketball Tournament kick-off banquet on Thursday evening.

In addition to Hoffman, the Women of Troy's Eshaya Murphy, Jamie Funn and Jamie Hagiya each earned Pac-10 All-Freshman team honorable mention accolades.

This is the fourth conference honor for Hoffman, who was named to the Pac-10 All-Freshman team and the All-Pac-10 honorable mention team in 2001. This season she leads the team in both scoring and rebounding with 15.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.

Hoffman needs just three rebounds to tally 1,000 for her career at USC. If she does so, she will be just the seventh player in both USC and Pac-10 history to reach the milestone. Boasting 1,674 career points to date, Hoffman could also become only the sixth Pac-10 player (seventh at USC) to post more than 1,500 points and 1,000 career rebounds. If Hoffman collects three more steals before the season ends, she will join Cheryl Miller as the only two players in USC program history to account for more than 1,500 points, 1,000 rebounds and 250 career steals. No Pac-10 player has ever accomplished the feat.

In a vote of the 10 Conference coaches, Stanford senior forward Nicole Powell was named the 2003-04 Pacific-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Year, UCLA's Noelle Quinn was selected as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and Caren Horstmeyer of California was named the Pac-10 Coach of the Year.
