Postgame Quotes - Stanford vs. California

March 6, 2004

CaliforniaHead Coach Caren Horstmeyer:
'I think it's a hard turn around. This is the second year we have done that. We can hang long enough that first half, but Stanford really turned it onin the first five minutes in the second half. They turned up the defense alittle bit and they attacked us right away, and credit to them they broughtit right inside. We just didn't have the same pop and zip that we had lastnight. It was somewhat emotional, but I thought we bounced back fairly wellin the first half and maybe panicked a little bit in the second half. ToStanford's credit, they really jumped on us.'

Nihan Anaz
Commented on the Stanford pressure:
'I think they were collapsing when I had the ball. I felt more comfortablein the first half with my shots.'

Renee Wright
Commented on the energy of the team:
'I thought that we started off kind of slow, but as for our emotions, Coach(Horstmeyer) came in and she pumped us up at halftime. We really wanted itand believed. We knew that in the second half, we had to come out and showit and work hard. I think we started off slow but we picked it up.'
