Postgame Quotes - Washington vs. Arizona

March 7, 2004

Head Coach June Daugherty:
'It is definitely tough to go out of the tournament this way. We would haveliked to play better, but it didn't happen. I think our kids played hardand left it out on the floor. We have been limited on bodies all year andit looked like we just ran out, ran out of gas, ran out of fuel a littlebit. Arizona is a heck of a team and they just keep coming at you. Theyhave a lot of very talented players, a lot of big kids, they play very veryhard and they just wore us down. They are a great team and we wish them muchsuccess in the tournament, finishing up here, and the NCAA's. I think theyare a hell of a team and they could really make some noise for the Pac-10.'

Giuliana Mendiola
Comments on the game:
'I thought we got good shots in the second half, they just weren't falling.Arizona is a great team, a great defensive team. They have players all overthe court and they made it difficult for us all game. In the second half,we got our shots, they just didn't fall for us. They got a lot oftransition out of it.'

Andrea Lalum
Comments about the match-up for Arizona:
'We went out there and played as hard as we could. We threw the ball away alot and our shots weren't falling and those things add up on each other. It's frustrating going down there when you can't get any shots up and youdon't get into an offensive flow throughout the whole game. It is a bigchange from the night before when we were having so much fun out there, andthen today it didn't start off very well. It is hard to settle down and getinto our game. We never got settled into our game.'

Gioconda Mendiola
Comments about the motivation to play against Arizona:
'It is suppose to be motivation, but I didn't play very well. There is notmuch I can do about that. I wanted to play when we played at home. Iwanted to come in here and make a difference out there.'
