Mendiola Named Finalist For Kodak/WBCA All-America Honors

ATLANTA, Ga. - Washington senior Giuliana Mendiola was named one of 48 finalists for the 2004 NCAA Division I Kodak/WBCA All-America team, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and Eastman Kodak Company announced today.
WBCA head coach members from each of the eight WBCA geographical regions determine finalists. Once selected, all finalists are considered for Kodak/WBCA All-America Team honors. The All-America team will be announced during the Kodak/WBCA All-America Team Press Conference at the New Orleans Hyatt on Saturday, April 3, at 9:45 a.m.
This is the second-straight regional honor for Mendiola, who also earned the distinction as a junior last year. Joining Mendiola on the Region 8 team are Emily Faurholt (Idaho), Ebony Hoffman (USC), Kristen Mann (UC Santa Barbara), Shawntinice Polk (Arizona) and Nicole Powell (Stanford).
Mendiola also earned first-team All-Pac-10 honors and Pac-10 All-Tournament team acclaim this year. She led the Huskies in scoring (21.2 ppg) and assists (5.5 apg), and was second in rebounding (6.3 rpg). Mendiola is also the Pac-10's scoring leader this year while ranking second in assists. She ranks second on Washington's all-time scoring list with 1,880 points and holds UW's career assists record with 600. Mendiola is only the second player in Pac-10 history to rank in the Top-25 in conference scoring and the Top-10 in assists.
