Powell Honored as Raytheon Sportswoman of the Year

TUCSON, Ariz. - Junior Chelsea Powell was honored at the eighth annual Support-a-Park Luncheon as the Raytheon Sportswoman of the Year on Tuesday. Powell is a sprinter/hurdler on the University of Arizona track and field team, where she is considered a team leader on and off the track.

Powell received the award for her outstanding athletic ability, as well as for her commitment to community service. She has put in countless hours serving the Tucson community through the C.A.T.S. Life Skills program.

Powell is the third Arizona track and field athlete to win the award. Nicole Gurnicz (distance/steeplechase) won the award in 2003, and Brianna Glenn (sprints/jumps) was honored in 2002.
