L'Orangerie Crawford Breaks USC Shot Put Mark

Fullerton, Calif. - Senior L'Orangerie Crawford shattered the 18-year-old Women of Troy shot put record on Saturday by throwing 56-0 (17.07) to highlight USC's participation at the Bennie Brown Invitational held at Cal State Fullerton.
Her effort breaks the old school standard of 55-8 1/4 (16.97) set by Diana Clements in 1986. Crawford's previous best was 54-6 3/4. She also finished second in the hammer with a throw of 205-10 (she is second on the all-time USC women's hammer chart with a best of 209-8).
On the men's side, senior Michael Murray threw the hammer a personal-best 214-11 to move into seventh on the all-time USC men's hammer chart. His previous best was 204-5.
Other standout performances for USC included sophomore Noah Bryant's PR of 58-7 1/2 to win the shot put, while freshman William Denbo went 56-4 1/2 to take third. Byrant also took fourth in the hammer with a throw of 184-2. For the USC women, freshman Candice Davis won the 100m HH in a PR time of 13.93.
USC hosts its only home meet of the season--the Trojan Invitational--next Saturday at Loker Stadium.
