Eide, Lucio Lead Beavers At Longhorn Invitational

March 21, 2004

AUSTIN, Texas - -

Lindsay Eide and Alex Lucio carded 80s to lead OSU to a tie for 14th after one round of Texas' Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational on Sunday. OSU shot 339 and is deadlocked with Northwestern with two rounds to play Monday and Tuesday at The Hills Country Club (par 72).

Eide and Lucio are tied for 23rd, eight shots off the lead of Vanderbilt's Chris Brady.

'We were disappointed with our scores today,' OSU coach Rise Lakowske said. 'The course was playing fairly difficult, but that's no excuse for what we shot today. I think we'll see a different team tomorrow.

'On the positive side, Lindsay and Alex are among the top 25, so they're in position to have a nice showing.'

Tournament host and 19th-ranked Texas holds a four-shot lead over No. 22 UNLV after a 309 Sunday.

OSU has a two- and three-shot lead over Kansas State and Arizona State, respectively, and is eight shots back of 13th-place Texas A&M.

Leah Whiting shot 88 while Anna Rosvall and Laura Skinner posted 91s.
