Cal Loses to No. 23 Arizona

TUCSON, ARIZ - For the second time this season, the California men's tennis team lost to No. 23 Arizona. The Bears won the doubles point, but Arizona claimed five of six singles matches to earn the team victory.
Cal falls to 7-13 overall and 2-2 in the Pac-10, while Arizona improves to 13-7 overall, 2-3 in the Pac-10.
Cal earned two hard-fought victories on courts one and three in doubles competition. The No. 21-ranked Cal tandem of Patrick Briaud and Balazs Veress needed to win a 15-minute-match point to defeat Arizona's Colin O'Grady and Roger Matalonga, 9-7. Cal's Kuni Minato and John Pettit came back from an 8-7 deficit to win their match, 9-8 (5), over Arizona's Tom Lloyd and Paul Warkentin.
The Bears won their only singles point as Tyler Browne defeated O'Grady on court four, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.
The Golden Bears will be in action again on Saturday, April 10, as they travel to Tempe to face the Arizona State Sun Devils in a match that begins at 1:00 p.m. (Pacific).
