April 11, 2004

STANFORD, Calif.- - Freshman Lindsay Eide led the Beavers to an eighth place finish Sunday by firing a 2-over 74 in the final round of the Peg Barnard Invitational. Eide finished in a tie for 17th, her best finish of her career at OSU.

Two other Beavers cracked the top-35 as sophomore Leah Whiting tied for 30th and senior Kelly Ferris finished in a tie for 34th, a season best for the senior.

'Lindsay and Kelly played really well and we beat a couple of the teams we needed to beat,' said head coach Ris Lakowske.

'The greens were really fast today and we hit the ball a lot better than last week, but we're really on the bottom end of the bubble right now [regarding the NCAA Regionals].'

Tournament host Stanford posted its first win of the year after turning in back-to-back teams scores of 295 to finish with a 14-over 590, 14 strokes ahead of Washington. The Cardinal had five players finish in the top ten on the way to the victory.

Washington State's Kim Welch used a final-round 4-under 68 to earn individual medalist honors, finishing with a total score of 2-under 142. UC-Irvine's Angela Won came in just one stroke behind Welch.

Senior Laura Skinner finished in a tie for 44th with a 162 and sophomore Anna Rosvall, who was competing as an individual, posted a 168.

Junior Alex Lucio, after battling an illness during both rounds, carded an 83 on Sunday to finish with a 169.

OSU now looks forward to the Pac-10 Championships, April 19-21 in Los Angeles, California.

'We have the chance to really help ourselves out next week at the Pac-10s,' said Lakowske.
