Pac-10 Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Pacific-10 Conference outdoor track and field athlete of the week honors for the week of April 5-12:
Men's Track Athlete of the Week: DOMENIK PETERSON, Arizona State (Fr., Jefferson City, Mo.). Peterson posted the fastest outdoor time in the nation this season with a 20.62 clocking to win the 200 meters at the Sun Angel Classic. The school's indoor record holder (20.57i), moved into the No. 8 spot on the ASU all-time list. He also competed on the 4x400m relay team that won the meet event at 3:03.97 - the same relay team that established the collegiate indoor record earlier this year.
Men's Field Athlete of the Week: DAN AMES, UCLA (Sr., Lakeside, Calif.). Ames was the top collegian, second overall behind Olympian John Godina, with a personal-best mark of 66-1 in the shot put at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational. It's the fifth best mark in UCLA history and is currently the collegiate leader this season. Ames also placed second in the hammer with a toss of 199-11, and fifth in the discus with a throw of 189-10.
Women's Track Athlete of the Week: SOFIE ABILDTRUP, Oregon (Jr., Fredericksberg, Denmark). Abildtrup helped lead the Ducks to the Pepsi Team Invitational title with wins over Washington, Minnesota and Colorado. She took top honors in the 400 meters (54.49) - the ninth best time in Oregon history, the 200 meters (23.94) - seventh best time in Oregon history, and sealed the win for the Ducks with a 54.40-second split in leading the team to a 3:46.92 clocking in the 4x400m relay.
Women's Field Athlete of the Week: SHEENA GORDON, UCLA (So., Erie, Pa.). Gordon won the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational high jump with a personal-best leap of 6-1 1/4. The mark ties her for the third best in UCLA history.
