Mt. SAC Relays Off and Running

April 16, 2004

Walnut, Calif. - Young Golden Bears made their presence known on the field at the Mt. SAC relays today. Highlights included freshman Kelechi Anyanwu throwing a personal best 145-4 in the discus.

'Mt. SAC is a very prestigious meet,' head coach Chris Huffins said. 'We did not have a lot of kids compete today, but we got off to a good start and I look forward to a great weekend.'

The day bode well for the future of Cal, as well. Nate Rolfe, who will be a freshman at Cal next season, broke the American junior record in the hammer with a mark of 223-7.

Freshman transfer Giulia Urlando made a 175-10 mark in the hammer. Freshman Alexandra Hunnings threw a 168-8 and fellow frosh Lauren Dorsey threw a 145-6 in the event. Both Urlando and Hunnings have qualified for the post-season. In addition, redshirt freshman Veronique Richardson jumped 18-3 in the long jump.
