LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The field is set at the 2004 NCAA women's gymnastics Super Six Championship. Stanford, along with Florida and Georgia advanced to the Super Six in the first session of the team preliminaries Thursday afternoon, while Alabama, Utah and host UCLA advanced in the evening session. Friday's Super Six competition will begin at 7:00 pm at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion.

Stanford will begin the Super Six competition on the balance beam, an event that the Cardinal finished the regular season ranked No. 2 in the nation on. After a bye in the second rotation, Stanford will move to floor in the third rotation and vault in the fourth. Stanford will then have a bye, before wrapping up the competition on the uneven bars, an event that the Cardinal have excelled in all season. The Cardinal finished the regular season as the fourth best bar team in the country.

The Cardinal advanced to their second Super Six in the last four years by tying Florida for first place in the first session of the NCAA Championship team preliminary competition. The Cardinal and the Gaters tallied identical scores of 196.850. Sophomore All-American Natalie Foley tied for first in the all-around with a score of 39.525, while senior All-American Lise L�veill� captured third place.

In addition to advancing to the Super Six, three Stanford gymnasts will compete in individual event finals on Saturday. Foley, one of the best all-arounders in the country, qualified for the vault, bars and floor, while senior All-American Caroline Fluhrer will compete on bars and floor. Senior All-American Lindsay Wing, the four-time reigning Pac-10 balance beam champion, will compete on the beam.

The Super Six will be broadcasted on CBS on a tape delayed basis. CBS will air the Super Six on May 1st at 10:00 am (PT).
