April 16, 2004

Seattle - The 13th-ranked Washington women's golf team will participate in the 19th-annual Pac-10 Championships April 19-21 at Saticoy Country Club in Somis, Calif. UCLA is the host school for this year's event. The tournament features 54 holes of team and stroke play on the par-72, 6,405-yard Saticoy course. Play will start at 8:30 a.m. from both the first and 10th tees. Live scoring of the event will be available at www.golfstat.com

California is the defending conference champs, shooting 892 last year to beat Arizona by five strokes at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis. Last season the Huskies placed eighth in the 10-team field, led by Sung Ea Lee's eighth-place finish. Washington's best finish at the event was a third-place showing in 1988.

The Husky lineup will include Paige Mackenzie, Sung Ea Lee, Amber Prange, Lindsay Morgan, Ashley Bickerton and Courtney McCracken competing as a non-scoring player.

UCLA enters the tournament ranked second in the most recent Golfweek standings. California is fourth, USC is ninth and Stanford is 23rd. Husky sophomore Paige Mackenzie is Washington's top individual competition, ranked 25th this week. Mackenzie did not play in last year's Pac-10 Championship due to a back injury.
