Bruins Take First Round Lead at Pac-10 Championships

The No.2 ranked UCLA women's golf team took the first-round lead at the Pacific-10 Conference Women's Golf Championships, hosted by Saticoy Country Club in Somis, CA.

The Bruins posted a team score of 308, 20-over par, and lead second-place Washington by one stroke. Stanford is third at 310, 22-over par. USC, Arizona State and California are tied for fourth place at 312, In seventh place is Arizona at 314, followed by Oregon at 320, Oregon State at 332 and Washington State at 334.

Individually for UCLA, junior Charlotte Mayorkas is tied for third place after posting a 74, two-over par. Freshman Hannah Jun is tied for sixth after posting a 75 and senior Krystal Shearer is tied for 20th after carding a 79. Sophomore Susie Mathews and senior Gina Umeck are tied for 25th after posting scores of 80 in round one. Senior Bridget Dwyer, playing as an individual, is tied for 12th after posting a first-round score of 78.

Arizona sophomore Erica Blasberg is the leader in the clubhouse after firing a one-under par score of 71. Stanford's Angela Rho is two strokes behind at 73, and Sofie Andersson of Cal and Tiffany Tavee of ASU are tied for third at 74.

Second round action continues Tuesday.
