Ahn and Nauenberg Lose In Pac-10 Invitational Doubles Semis
April 24, 2004
OJAI, Calif. - Washington's women's tennis team will be without representation in Sunday's final rounds of the Pac-10 Championships, after the duo of Mugette Ahn and Saskia Nauenberg fell 8-3 in the semifinals of the Invitational Doubles Draw. Bernadette Bayani and Melissa Esmero from USC knocked the Huskies out of contention.
Ahn, a junior, and the freshman Nauenberg had never won a match together heading into the tourney and had only teamed up twice. The pair clicked on Friday however, earning a trip to the semifinals thanks to a pair of wins over a team from Washington State in the first round and a 9-8 tiebreak win over an Arizona State duo.
The Huskies now look toward the NCAA Regionals May 14-15, of which the location and seeding will be announced May 5.
