Warburg Wins Pac-10 Singles Title

OJAI, Calif. - Junior Sam Warburg capped a brilliant Pac-10 Individual Tournament by capturing the men's singles title. Stanford closed a successful 2004 Pac-10 Tournament with competitors in the finals of the singles and doubles main draw and the singles and doubles finals of the invitational draw.

In the finals of the singles main draw on Sunday morning, Warburg collected a 7-6, 6-3 straight sets win over USC's No. 31 ranked Adriano Biaselia to claim the Pac-10 men's singles crown. Warburg becomes the ninth Stanford men's tennis player to capture the Pac-10 singles title since the tournament began in 1987.

In the doubles main draw finals, the sophomore tandem of KC Corkery and James Pade fell to UCLA's Philipp Gruendler and Luben Pampoulov, 8-3.

In the invitational singles draw, senior captain Carter Morris battled UCLA's Chris Surapol in a three set marathon before falling, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

In an all-Stanford invitational doubles final, junior Phil Sheng and freshman James Wan edged the freshman duo of Eric McKean and Chris Rasmussen, 8-5 to claim the title.
