Tomasulo Earns All-Pac-10 for Third Time

May 3, 2004

BERKELEY - Senior Peter Tomasulo earned first-team All-Pac-10 honors for the third consecutive year, while junior Jeff Hood was selected to the all-conference second team, the Pac-10 office announced Friday.

Tomasulo, the first Cal golfer ever to claim first-team status three straight seasons, has averaged 70.1 strokes per round this spring - well ahead of his school-record pace of 70.98 set last year. The 2003 third-team All-American, who represented the United States at the Palmer Cup last summer, was also recently chosen for the Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship. The 12-member U.S. squad will play its Japanese counterpart July 13-16 at Taiheiyou Club Ichihara Course in Chiba, Japan.

Hood, who opened the 2003-04 campaign with a win at the Mid-Pines Intercollegiate, is averaging 72.2 per round for the Bears.

In addition, seniors Scott Carlyle and Jesse Ruda were voted All-Pac-10 honorable mention.

The 19th-ranked Bears most recently placed sixth at the Pac-10 Championships and are awaiting a bid for the NCAA regionals.
