Interns often find themselves running errands and grinding through busy work.
Memos to distribute? Find the intern. Letters to mail? Give them to the intern.
As an intern with the New York Knicks, Oregon State soccer player Courtney Carter has chaperoned celebrities, produced her own video spot to run during a timeout in a playoff game and seen NBA stars.
Carter heard about the internship through a family friend who works for Cablevision, the company that owns the Knicks and WNBA's New York Liberty.
She applied, was contacted and went through some phone interviews.
The company was impressed with Carter's background at OSU, where she had put together a food drive and an auction as one of the leaders of the student-athlete advisory committee.
Carter also was a reporter for Fox Sports' 'On Campus with the Beavers,' and came up with the idea for the 'Cribs' feature, which brought the viewer into the homes of OSU athletes.
