Wes Felix Named Pac-10 Track Athlete Of The Week
May 4, 2004
Los Angeles - Junior Wes Felix has been named the Pac-10's Male Track Athlete of the Week for the week of May 3rd, the conference announced on Monday.
Felix, who was the Pac-10's 200m champion in 2003, won both the 100m and 200m at the UCLA dual meet in personal-best times of 10.31 and 20.57, respectively. It was the second-consecutive year that Felix has swept both short sprints versus the Bruins.
It's also the second-straight season the Felix has been named the conference athlete of the week for his performance against UCLA.
The 20.57 is just outside of the prestigious USC top 10 chart for 200m and is the Pac-10's top time outdoors this year in the deuce. His previous best was 20.79.
Felix's 10.31 is the second-fastest mark in the conference overall and is tied for the fastest wind-legal mark. His previous best was 10.33.
Felix also ran the second leg on USC's 400m relay squad that tied a season-best by winning in 39.35.
Felix and the rest of the Trojan track and field teams are next in action at the Pac-10 Championships in Tucson, Ariz., on May 14-15.
