Softball Hosts No. 19 Oregon State & No. 12 Oregon In Final Home Games Of The Season

ON TAP: The Arizona State softball team (31-27; 1-13 Pac-10) will play host to their final home games of the season as No. 19 Oregon State (39-21; 3-12 Pac-10) comes to Tempe for a single game on Friday, May 7 at 7:00 p.m. The Sun Devils will then take on No. 12 Oregon (35-14; 9-6 Pac-10) on Saturday, May 8 at 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday, May 9 at 12:00 p.m.

THE SERIES: The Sun Devils hold a slight 32-31 overall record against Oregon ... earlier this year in Eugene, Oregon edged ASU, 1-0 ... ASU also holds the all-time series record against Oregon State with a 55-21 advantage ... ASU and OSU split the two-game series in Corvallis back on April 24-25. with OSU winning the first game, 6-0 and the Sun Devils winning the second game, 7-2.

SENIOR SALUTE: Six Sun Devil players will be saying their good bye's to Farrington Stadium and the home crowd as they play their final three home games of their careers this weekend. Katie Cobos (C/Phoenix, Ariz.), Kristin Farber (OF/Los Alamitos, Calif.), Keri Pulcifer (OF/Acton, Calif.), Kari Reidhead (1B/Holbrook, Ariz.), Trisha Tornberg (OF/Peoria, Ariz.), Phelan Wright (3B/Los Alamitos, Calif.).

DEVIL NOTES: Bre DeSanta ranks 15th in the county in strikeouts per seven innings with 9.1 ... Kristin Farber is 25th in the country in stolen bases ... Arizona State was picked to finish sixth in the 2004 Pac-10 Preseason Coaches Poll ... the opening game against Stephen F. Austin on January 30 was the earliest opening game, dating back to at least the mid 1980's and is the earliest opening game in head coach Linda Wells 15 years ... ASU is slated to play 65 regular season games this year, making it the most in Wells' tenure ... ASU pitchers are allowing six hits a game and striking out over seven ... ASU has won 30 or more games in nine consecutive seasons ... ASU fell out of the top-25 (April 7) for the first time in five years, since the first week of the 1999 season.
