Stanford To Host Men's And Women's NCAA First And Second Rounds

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford University men's and women's tennis teams will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Championship Tournament on May 14-16th. All of the first and second round matches will be played at the Taube Tennis Center located on the Stanford campus.
The top-ranked Stanford women's tennis team will host No. 26 Michigan, No. 46 Denver and Quinnipiac in the first and second rounds of the 2004 NCAA Championships on May 14-15 at Taube Tennis Center.
Stanford will take on Quinnipiac in first-round action at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 14, after Michigan and Denver face off at 10 a.m. The winning teams will advance to the second round at Stanford on Saturday, May 15, at 3 p.m.
The Cardinal men will host Pacific, No. 64 New Mexico, and No. 23 Washington in the first and second round. New Mexico and Washington will square off in the first match of the opening round on Saturday, May 15th at 9:00 am (PT). The Cardinal will then take the court versus Pacific in the second match of the day at 12:00 pm (PT). The winning teams will advance to the second round at Stanford on Sunday, May 16th, at 12:00 pm (PT).
The Cardinal women's team finished the regular season with an unblemished 23-0 record and a No. 1 national ranking in the latest ITA poll. For their efforts, the Cardinal were given the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament.
The Stanford men's team concluded the season with a 16-7 overall record and is currently ranked No. 9 in the latest ITA poll. The Cardinal men received the No. 10 overall seed in this year's tournament field.
