Track & Field Signs Nation's No. 1 High School Shot Putter

The University of Arizona track and field program announced the signing of Megan Howard of Arroyo Grande, Calif. Howard is currently the nation's high school leader in the girl's shot put with a throw of 50 feet, 3 ï¿½ inches. 'She will be a huge addition to our team,' throws coach John Frazier said. The women's track and field team, especially the throws squad, will enjoy Howard's strength and talent during the 2005 season.
The high school senior hails from Arroyo Grande High School in the San Diego area. Howard can expect to feel right at home on the Wildcat track and field teams, as three of her high school teammates also throw for Arizona. Sean Shields, Jarred Sola, and Billie-Jo Grant all attended and competed at Arroyo Grande High School.
