Andrea Duran Named to Academic All-America District 8 First Team

UCLA sophomore 3B Andrea Duran has been named to the Academic All-America District 8 University Division Softball Team, it was announced on Thursday. Duran is now eligible for the National Academic All-America Team, as selected by CoSIDA (Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America).

Duran, who has a 3.343 GPA majoring in sociology, is the only sophomore on the 11-player All-District 8 first team. Duran has started all of UCLA's 45 games at third base, and is hitting .313 on the season with seven doubles, two triples and six home runs. She holds a .938 fielding percentage at the hot corner.

The Bruins complete their regular season schedule this weekend with games against Arizona and Arizona State at UCLA's Easton Stadium. The 64-team field for the 2004 NCAA Division I Softball Championship is scheduled to be announced on Sunday between 5:30-6 pm PT on Sunday, May 16. Easton Stadium will be one of eight sites for NCAA Regional action May 20-23.
