BOULDER - University of Colorado men's basketball head coach Ricardo Patton has announced the signing of a pair of student-athletes for the 2004-05 academic year. Joining the Buffaloes roster will be junior-transfers Lamont Arrington and Julius Ashby.

Arrington is a 7-0, 215-pound forward/center from Detroit, Mich., who played last season at Schoolcraft College in Michigan. He averaged 9.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game and was named All-Region 12 First Team. Schoolcraft College was ranked ninth in the preseason Street & Smith Magazine and finished the season 27-4.

Arrington has an academic interest in education, was also recruited by Cincinnati, Houston, Purdue, and Wyoming.

Ashby is a 6-9, 220-pound forward/center from Trinidad & Tobago, averaged 15.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and four blocked shots at Marshalltown Community College (Iowa) the last two years.  He was also recruited by Indiana, Minnesota, and Rutgers. Ashby's academic interest is business.

"We're excited to have Lamont and Julius joining our program for the next two years," Patton said. "They bring experience at their respective positions and they both did a nice job at their junior colleges. Lamont and Julius give us the size we need."

The latest student-athletes join a CU team filled with all underclassmen on the roster without one senior on next year's team that went 18-11 and earned an NIT berth in 2003-04. The Buffaloes will be comprised of 11 juniors, one sophomore, and three freshmen.
