The UCLA men's soccer team has announced its 2004 schedule, which is highlighted by a non-conference tournament matchup at UNLV against 2003 NCAA quarterfinalist Creighton and a rivalry game with Loyola Marymount at The Home Depot Center. UCLA hopes to return to The Home Depot Center on December 10 and 12, when it hosts the 2004 NCAA College Cup.
The Bruins' season kicks off on Friday, Sept. 3 vs. 2003 NCAA participant Oakland at the Cal State Fullerton Classic in Titan Stadium. UCLA's first home game will take place Sunday, Sept. 5 vs. UC Riverside at 3:30 pm at Frank W. Marshall Field at Drake Stadium. Also on deck are home matchups against 2003 NCAA participants Cal State Northridge, Oregon State, Washington, California and San Diego.
First-year head coach Jorge Salcedo returns five starters from last year's squad that swept through the Pac-10 season with a 10-0 record and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals. Amongst the returning starters are 2003 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy candidate Aaron Lopez, 2003 Pac-10 Co-Freshman of the Year Chad Barrett and Freshman All-American defender Brandon Owens.
