No. 15 Washington Cruises To 13-4 Win Over USC

LOS ANGELES - Zach Clem went 3-for-4 with a double, home run and four RBI Saturday as the No. 15 Washington Huskies beat the USC Trojans, 13-4, in Pac-10 Conference action at Dedeaux Field. Washington used a 19-hit attack on the afternoon in taking the first two games of the conference series.
Matt Kasser (3-0) held the Trojans scoreless until the sixth inning. Kasser allowed four runs (two earned) on eight hits in 7 2/3 innings.
Washington improves to 32-15-1 overall and 14-6 in Pac-10 action while USC falls to 21-27 on the season and 7-10 in conference.
Bret Butler (4-3) took the loss for the Trojans, allowing seven runs (six earned) in four innings.
The Huskies opened a 9-0 lead in the sixth, scoring two in the second, two in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth. Center fielder Brent Lillibridge went 4-for-6 with an RBI. Matt Tucker entered the game in the seventh for the Huskies and made two great catches in right field, as well as hitting a solo home run in the ninth for his second homer of the season.
Tucker ended the game on a fly ball double play, throwing out Trojan shortstop Hector Estrella at the plate when Estrella tripped over the leg of catcher Ben Johnson. Estrella failed to touch the plate and Johnson tagged him out to end the game.
