Varsity Eight Finishes Sixth at Pac-10's

Rancho Cordova, Caif. - UCLA competed at the 18th-Annual Pac-10 Women's Rowing Championships today on Lake Natoma. The Bruins advanced all four boats to the Grand Finals and finished the day seventh in the team standings.
The UCLA varsity eight and second varsity eight boats saw their first appearance in the Grand Finals in the program's three-year history as a scholarship sport. The Bruin novice eight advanced to the Grand Finals for the third consecutive year.
The Bruins finished sixth in the varsity race in 7:08.10, scoring 15 points toward the final team standings. California won the varsity eight title and remained undefeated on the year. Defending champion Stanford finished fourth.
In the second varsity eight final, UCLA finished sixth, crossing the line in 7:17.7. California claimed another Pac-10 title with a victory in the event.
The Golden Bears claimed their third title of the day with a victory in the novice eight final. The defending champion UCLA finished fifth in 7:11.9.
The Bruins finished seventh in the varsity four final, but no time was taken.
At the end of competition, UCLA accumulated 31 points and finished seventh in the team standings. California scored 69 points on the day to also claim the Pac-10 team title, snapping Washington's 11-year hold on the title. California joined UCLA and Washington as the only Pac-10 schools to win the team title.
