For the third time in Conference history the Pac-10 is sending seven teams to the NCAA Championships... The Pac-10 has sent at least seven teams to the NCAAs for six consecutive season... Five out of the seven Conference teams competing in Regionals will be No. 1 seeds... The Pac-10 has claimed 16 NCAA Championships, including the last three... ARIZONA, making its 18th consecutive appearance, garnered the No. 1 seed in the Tournament and will host Centenary (La.) on May 20... UCLA, the No. 2 seed overall, is staying at home for Regionals as well. The defending National Champions have more postseason wins (130) than any other team in the country... CALIFORNIA earned a No. 1 seed and the fifth overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Bears have won eight in a row and have out scored their opponents 41-7 during the streak... STANFORD is coming off its best Pac-10 showing ever with a second place finish and a school-best 13 league wins. The Cardinal are 24-9 at home this year, and as a No. 1 seed (No. 7 overall) the Cardinal are hosting Regionals on the Farm... WASHINGTON earned a No. 1 seed and is seeded No. 8 in the Tournament. The Huskies will travel to Georgia for Regionals... The Huskies are 29-8 in the Regional round and are looking to advance to their seventh WCWS... The OREGON Ducks advanced to Regionals for the second consecutive season, and their eighth all-time... OREGON STATE is advancing to Regionals for the sixth straight year and is looking to advance to the WCWS for the first time in school history.

PAC-10 PLAYER/PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Stanford's Allister and UCLA's Goerl
STANFORD senior Jessica Allister has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Softball Player of the Week, and UCLA senior Keira Goerl has been named Pitcher of the Week for May 11-17.

Allister, from Nacogdoches, Texas, helped Stanford close out the regular season over the weekend with a 2-1 record against the Oregon schools as the Cardinal posted their best Pac-10 finish ever - a tie for second with a 13-8 record. Allister hit .400 for the weekend (4-for-10) with three home runs, five RBI and three runs scored. She posted a 1.300 slugging percentage and was perfect behind the plate with 25 putouts. Allister notched all three homers on May 15 in a doubleheader with No. 19 Oregon State, with one in the first game and two in the second game.

Goerl, from Moreno Valley, Calif., went 2-0 this week with wins over No. 1 Arizona and Arizona State. In UCLA's game against Arizona on May 14, Goerl struck out nine Wildcats and walked two as UCLA defeated Arizona 3-2. A day later, in the first game of UCLA's doubleheader with ASU, Goerl pitched a four-hit shutout, striking out six and walking two. For the week, Goerl had a 1.00 ERA in two complete-game starts and 14 innings in the circle. She struck out 15 and walked four, holding opposing batters to a .200 batting average.

This is the second weekly honor for Allister, and the 24th all-time for Stanford. Goerl has won the award 11 times in four years putting her in a tie for second all-time in the Pac-10 with fellow Bruin Lisa Fernandez. It is the 81st time a Bruin has been honored.

PAC-10 NOTES. . .
Around the League... Arizona SO Alicia Hollowell is one of three finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year... Pac-10 players have won USA Softball National Player of the Week four consecutive weeks, and have been named Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week in each of the last two weeks.

The Wildcats are advancing to the postseason for the 18th straight season... Arizona is 95-25 (.792) all-time in the NCAA Tournament, including a 50-6 mark in Regionals, and the 'Cats are 15-4 in Tucson in the NCAA Tournament... Sophomore Alicia Hollowell has 480 strikeouts, and needs just four more K's to tie the single-season Pac-10 record... Hollowell has 39 wins so far this season, just one shy of her school record of 40, set last season... Wildcats' pitchers have 599 strikeouts on the season and can tie the Pac-10 record with 33 more strikeouts this season... Freshman Caitlin Lowe has stolen 47 bases this season, placing her fourth in the Conference for most steals in a season.

The Sun Devils will miss the postseason for the first time since 1996... Junior Val Sevilla finished the season with 15 home runs, which tied senior Phelan Wright's school-record set last year... Wright finished the season with 13 home runs, and led ASU with a .390 batting average (fifth in the Pac-10) and 47 RBI (fifth in the Pac-10)... Sevilla or Wright were among the Top-10 in the Pac-10 in plate appearances, batting average, slugging percentage, hits, RBI, doubles, home runs, and total bases... Head Coach Linda Wells has guided ASU to 13 winning seasons in her last 15 years as a head coach and will be coaching the Greek National Team this summer in the Olympics.

Cal is making its 19th straight NCAA appearance... The Bears have won eight straight, and have won five in a row on the road... During the eight game win-streak the Bears are outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 41-7... Cal is 39-28 in the Regional round and is 54-40 all time in the NCAA Tournament... California finished the season with a 13-8 Conference mark, its best since 1987... The Bears are looking for their sixth straight trip to the College World Series, and their eighth overall... Cal has four players with 15+ stolen bases, led by junior Vicky Galindo who has 23 steals on the year, just three from the school-record... Freshman Haley Woods has 16 home runs this year, placing her in third in the Conference, she is only three away from the school record of 19.

The Ducks are making their eighth appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and their second in a row... Finished Pac-10 play with a 10-11 mark, giving the Ducks 20 Pac-10 wins in two seasons; more league wins than the program had from 1999-2002 combined... Oregon won another one run game last week and are now 13-6 in games decided by just one run... Junior pitcher Ani Nyhus finished Pac-10 play with all 10 of the Ducks' wins... Oregon has turned a Pac-10 high 31 double plays this season, and has not hit into a single one... The Ducks should be looking forward to playing teams outside the Pac-10 as they are 28-8 in non-Conference games.

For the sixth straight season, Oregon State is advancing to the NCAA Tournament... The Beavers are the only Pac-10 team without a trip to the WCWS, they came one game short in 1999 and 2000... OSU has recorded 40 wins so far on the season, marking the fifth time in six years the team reached the 40 win plateau... Sophomore Vanessa Iapala is one of two players in the Pac-10 to lead their team in batting average, hits and RBI... Iapala has 68 hits so far this season and needs only eight more to tie the Oregon State record of 76 hits in a season... Senior Monica Hoffman has 19 wins on the season and a Pac-10 best five saves.

The Cardinal have played in seven NCAA Tournaments, notching a 10-13 mark in NCAA play overall, and 8-11 in Regional action... Stanford, a No. 1 seed, is hosting Regionals at home on the Farm where it is 25-9 this season... Senior Dana Sorensen's school record 28 wins is second in the Pac-10 this season... Sorensen's 99 career wins is the 10th most in Conference history... Stanford is entering the postseason after setting a school record with 13 Pac-10 wins and finishing in it highest position (second) ever.

The defending National Champions are making their 21st trip to the NCAA Tournament... The Bruins have a 27-1 Non-Conference mark and have won 11-of-14 to close the season... Senior Keira Goerl has 122 career wins, placing her in second all-time in the Pac-10... Sophomore Caitlin Benyi led the Bruins in batting average, hits and RBI this season and has a league-best 20 home runs, 10 of which came in Pac-10 play... The Bruins are tops in the Pac-10 with 68 home runs, they have led the league in home runs in back-to-back seasons... UCLA leads the nation with 130 NCAA Tournament wins.

The Huskies are making their 11th consecutive NCAA appearance, they have a 41-18 overall mark and are 29-8 in Regionals, with six trips to the WCWS... UW is led by senior Kristen Rivera, who leads the Huskies in basically every major offensive category and is in the Top-10 in the Conference in batting, slugging, on base percentage, RBI, home runs, total bases and walks... Rivera's 58 career home runs ranks seventh all-time in the Pac-10, and is currently second in the Conference with 17 home runs this season... Senior Ashley Boek is third in the Pac-10 in wins (25) and strikeouts (251)... The Huskies drew a No. 1 seed and will play on the road. They are 29-11 away from home this season, and are a combined 3-0 versus teams in their regional this season.
