Bears Claim Top Spot In Final USRowing/CRCA Poll

After winning their first ever Pac-10 team title and their first varsity eight title in 25 years, the California Golden Bears earned the No. 1 ranking in the final USRowing/CRCA Poll of the season. The Bears received 11 first-place votes out of 20 to remain at No. 1. Princeton remains at No. 2 with seven first-place votes, while Ohio State jumped back into the top three with the No. 3 ranking.
Up next: The Bears get ready for the 2004 NCAA Championships held May 28-30 at Lake Natoma in Rancho Cordova, Calif. Cal's varsity eight is looking to improve upon last year's 10th-place finish and win its first NCAA title since 1980. The second varsity eight placed third at last year's nationals, but will try to extend its unbeaten streak and win its first ever national championship. The varsity four took home the silver medal at last year's NCAAs, but will strive to win its first title since 1981.
