UCLA Leads NCAA Women's Golf Tournament

OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) - Second-ranked UCLA took a five-shot lead over OklahomaState on Thursday in the NCAA Women's Golf Championships, shooting a 6-under286 in the third round.

Susie Mathews of UCLA and Karin Sjodin of Oklahoma State shot 68s to sharethe individual lead at 8-under 208.

'Being in the lead heading into tomorrow doesn't change our goal,' UCLAcoach Carrie Forsyth said. 'Whatever position we are in, we are going to lookforward to a hard-fought round. I think we are comfortable with a lead. We feelgood being in this position.'

Top-ranked Duke was seven strokes back in third place.

'It's going to take a low score tomorrow to win the tournament,' Oklahomacoach Amy Weeks said. 'If we stick to our game plan, good things are going tohappen. These girls are capable of shooting low scores. They have to stick towhat they do best and use the information from the first three rounds.'
